American football is about to get a serious dose of Afrobeats, and London may need to prepare for a halftime dance break.
Nigerian Afrobeats star Ayra Starr is set to make history as the first African artist to headline an NFL halftime show.
The NFL announced on Thursday that the award-winning singer will take centre stage during the 2026 NFL London Game on October 11 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The game will feature the Philadelphia Eagles against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but for many music fans, the biggest attraction may arrive when the players leave the field and Ayra Starr takes over the spotlight.
The performance adds another major international milestone to the singer’s rapidly expanding career. Known for her energetic performances and distinctive sound, Ayra Starr has continued to establish herself as one of the leading voices of the new generation of African music.
Her growing catalogue includes international favourites such as “Heaven Baby”, further cementing her appeal among audiences far beyond Nigeria.
