Two-time Guinness World Records (GWR) contender Afua Asantewaa O. Aduonum has earned another major international spotlight after being featured on a prominent digital billboard in New York City, Manhattan, USA.

The achievement places the Ghanaian music marathon enthusiast on one of the world’s most recognisable commercial platforms, where her image was displayed on a massive digital screen at a busy and iconic intersection in the city.

Afua Asantewaa first gained international attention in December 2023 when she embarked on an ambitious attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon. She began the challenge in Accra, Ghana, with the goal of singing continuously for five days.

Although her attempt did not receive official Guinness World Records certification due to technical issues, the feat generated significant public interest in Ghana and internationally.

Undeterred by the setback, Afua Asantewaa launched a second attempt about a year later in Kumasi, Ghana’s second-largest city, reaffirming her determination to achieve the record.

The singer currently resides in Canada, where she has continued to pursue her music and other projects. She has also indicated that she is considering a third attempt on foreign soil.

Reacting to her latest international feature, Afua Asantewaa described the recognition as a significant milestone for herself, her team and Ghana.

“It’s an honour for me, my country, my team and all who have contributed to making the Afua Asantewaa (Singathon) brand what it is today,” she said.

The New York Times Billboard platform offers brands, personalities and organisations the opportunity to display photographs, videos and promotional content on large-scale digital screens in high-profile commercial locations.

Being featured on such a platform is widely regarded as a significant form of global visibility, particularly for personalities seeking to expand their brand beyond their home countries.

For Afua Asantewaa, the feature represents another chapter in her journey to build an internationally recognised brand following her highly publicised Guinness World Records attempts.
