Most people expect the occasional traffic jam on Accra’s roads. Veteran gospel musician Akwasi Boateng, however, says he never imagined the biggest obstacle to his day would be a giant shipping container parked right in the middle of his neighbourhood street.
The gospel singer has taken to social media to express his frustration after discovering what appeared to be a massive metal container blocking a public road near his home, leaving residents wondering whether someone had mistaken the street for a private storage yard.
In a video shared online, Boateng captured the unusual sight while questioning how such a structure could be left sitting across the roadway without any apparent regard for the people who use it.
“Is this fair?” he asked, visibly frustrated by the situation.
The musician wondered how anyone could decide that a public road was the ideal location to temporarily park a shipping container, especially when it disrupted both motorists and pedestrians trying to go about their daily routines.
Known for inspiring audiences through gospel music, Boateng found himself delivering a different kind of message this time. Instead of a sermon from the pulpit, he offered a passionate appeal for common sense and civic responsibility.
His video has since sparked widespread reactions online, with many social media users expressing disbelief at the sight of a shipping container occupying valuable road space. Others questioned whether the necessary permissions had been obtained or if local authorities were aware of the situation.
As the debate continues, Boateng and his neighbours can only hope the oversized roadside visitor is removed sooner rather than later.
