Ghanaian musician Fancy Gadam has sparked curiosity after revealing what he describes as the spiritual connection behind the ‘One Don’ title he shares with dancehall star Shatta Wale.

The Tamale-based hitmaker made the revelation during an interview ahead of his scheduled appearance at ShattaFest, where he opened up about a private conversation with the Shatta Movement leader that gave him a different perspective on their shared nickname.

Fancy Gadam Says ‘One Don’ Is More Than a Stage Name

According to Fancy Gadam, the title is not simply a catchy nickname or a claim to musical supremacy. He believes it carries a deeper spiritual meaning that only those who have attained a particular level of blessing can fully understand.

The musician explained that Shatta Wale personally discussed the significance of the name with him during a phone conversation, suggesting that their shared title represents a special connection.

“There’s some spiritual thing behind Shatta Wale’s ‘One Don’ name. If you’ve not reached there, no one can call you One Don. It’s only Shatta Wale and I who know the secret. If you don’t get to that pedigree, you can never be called that name,” Fancy Gadam stated.

He further recounted how Shatta Wale allegedly attributed their status to a special gift from a figure he referred to as their father.

“He said, ‘I know that what Baba gave him and I, no one has it again.’ I was confused, so I asked who Baba was, and he said our father,” Fancy Gadam recalled.

While the comments have raised questions about the meaning of the spiritual reference, Fancy Gadam did not provide further details about the identity of “Baba” or the nature of the blessing he described.

Fancy Gadam Links Their Success to Divine Blessings

Beyond the mystery surrounding the title, Fancy Gadam pointed to the strong fan bases enjoyed by both musicians as evidence of what he considers a special blessing.

Shatta Wale has built a formidable following across Ghana, while Fancy Gadam commands significant support in Tamale and other parts of northern Ghana. The singer believes their ability to attract large crowds reflects something beyond conventional music industry success.

“Can’t you see how blessed Shatta Wale is? That’s the same way I’m also blessed. That’s how I got on the Shatta Fest stage,” he added.

His remarks also highlighted his respect for Shatta Wale and the relationship between the two musicians, whose careers have attracted strong grassroots followings.
