Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has revealed that he would still have pursued a career in the entertainment industry even if he had not become a successful recording artiste.

Speaking in an interview with PlayKisstra, the Grammy-nominated musician, whose real name is David Adeleke, said his passion for entertainment would have led him into entrepreneurship, particularly through owning a record label or a media company.

Davido explained that his interest in the entertainment business goes beyond performing, noting that he has always been fascinated by the creative industry and its ability to connect with audiences.

“I’d probably be a label owner or have a media house because I’ve always loved entertainment. Even if I was working in my daddy’s office, I can see myself having a side business like a music label just because I love music,” he said.

The Unavailable hitmaker also highlighted his academic background, revealing that he holds a degree in Business Management and could have pursued a conventional corporate career if music had not become his path.

“I have a degree. I have a BSc in Business Management, so I can go to Barclays here and try to get a job. You know what I’m saying? I could get a job. I can actually get a job. I got a résumé,” he added.

Davido has built one of the most successful careers in African music, becoming a global ambassador for Afrobeats through numerous international collaborations, awards and chart-topping releases.

He rose to prominence in 2012 with the release of Dami Duro, the second single from his debut album Omo Baba Olowo, a song that established him as one of the leading voices of Nigeria’s new generation of Afrobeats artistes.

Beyond music, Davido has also expanded his influence as a businessman and industry figure, supporting emerging talents and contributing to the growth of Africa’s entertainment ecosystem.
