Talent manager, music producer and entertainment commentator Kwesi Ernest has argued that Ghanaians owe actress and socialite Moesha Boduong an apology for the criticism and ridicule she faced after publicly revealing that she had undergone a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedure.
Speaking during a discussion on Neat FM, Kwesi Ernest said Moesha was among the first Ghanaian public figures to openly acknowledge undergoing cosmetic surgery at a time when such procedures attracted strong public disapproval.
According to him, her decision to be transparent about the procedure exposed her to intense criticism, insults and public judgment.
“We haven’t been fair to someone like Moesha Boduong. Many of us ridiculed her when she underwent BBL. I think we owe that young lady an apology. When BBL first became popular, she was one of the first people who openly and boldly admitted to having the procedure,” he said.
Kwesi Ernest noted that the criticism extended beyond the general public, with some women also joining in condemning Moesha over her decision.
“Even some fellow women made hurtful comments about her, calling her a mermaid, saying she wouldn’t make it to heaven, and making all sorts of bizarre remarks,” he added.
The entertainment executive argued that public attitudes toward cosmetic surgery have changed significantly over time, with procedures that were once heavily criticised now becoming increasingly accepted.
He explained that BBL has become more common, with many women openly seeking the procedure and international cosmetic surgeons travelling to Ghana to provide such services.
“Fast forward to today, and we’ve reached a point where BBL has become institutionalised. Surgeons now travel from Turkey to Ghana to perform the procedure for several women during private sessions,” he noted.
Kwesi Ernest’s comments have reignited conversations about changing beauty standards, personal choices and how society treats public figures who make decisions about their bodies.
Moesha Boduong, who gained fame through acting, modelling and social media influence, became one of Ghana’s most discussed personalities after sharing details of her cosmetic surgery journey several years ago.
