Award-winning Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has revealed that Ghana once served as a second home for many Nigerian musicians during the early stages of their careers, describing the country as a peaceful environment where artistes received overwhelming love and support.
Speaking during a livestream with Nigerian content creator Davrel following his recent visit to Ghana, Davido reflected on the close relationship between the Ghanaian and Nigerian music industries and the role Ghana played in the rise of several Afrobeats stars.
“There was a time when all Nigerian artistes were living in Ghana. It was so calm and peaceful, people showed love,” the singer said.
Davido’s remarks underscore the longstanding cultural and musical ties between the two West African nations, whose artistes have frequently collaborated and supported one another over the years.
The Unavailable hitmaker also disclosed that he has kept one of his luxury vehicles—a Lamborghini—in Ghana since 2020, revealing that he drives it whenever he visits the country.
With his trademark humour, the singer described the sports car as his “official 30BG car,” a reference to his popular 30 Billion Gang (30BG) brand and fan movement.
During the livestream, Davido also offered a glimpse into the financial demands of his celebrity lifestyle, revealing that he spends between $200,000 and $300,000 every month on personal and business-related expenses.
According to the award-winning artiste, the amount represents only part of his monthly expenditure and excludes the expenses of his wife, Chioma Adeleke, as well as purchases of luxury cars, jewellery and other household costs.
“I spend between $200,000 and $300,000 every month, and that doesn’t even include my wife’s expenses or the rest of my household. It also doesn’t include expenses for the purchase of luxury cars and jewellery,” he disclosed.
Davido’s comments have since generated conversations on social media, with many fans reacting to both his praise for Ghana and the scale of his monthly spending, while others highlighted the enduring bond between Ghana and Nigeria’s music industries.
