Twitch 4eva Explains Why He Walked Away from Ground Up Chale

Ghanaian singer Twitch 4eva has finally opened up about his decision to part ways with his former record label, Ground Up Chale, giving fans a candid look at why he chose to take control of his career and go solo.

Speaking during a livestream interview with Made in Ghana, Twitch did not sugarcoat the realities of life as an independent musician. He acknowledged that navigating the industry without the backing of a record label can be a serious hustle, but according to him, struggling independently is still better than staying trapped in a deal that does not offer fair value.

For Twitch, the mathematics is simple. If an artist is putting in the work, making sacrifices and generating value but is not receiving a fair return, staying for the sake of having a label behind them makes little business sense.

He suggested that too many artists make what he described as “foolish work” under unfavourable deals, only realizing later that they may have sacrificed years of their careers without getting the rewards they deserved.

And when the conversation turned to his current relationship with Ground Up Chale, Twitch wasted no time clearing the air.

According to the Baby hitmaker, there is currently no relationship between him and the label.

That chapter, he explained, may have been important, but it is now firmly in the past.

Twitch still appears to appreciate the good times he experienced during his Ground Up Chale era. The period played a major role in introducing him to a wider audience and saw him share a musical journey with notable names such as Kwesi Arthur.

But nostalgia, it seems, does not pay the bills.

While the memories remain, Twitch has made it clear that he has moved on and is focused on building his career on his own terms.

For the singer, independence may come with more pressure, more responsibility and fewer people to blame when things go wrong. But at least, this time, he gets to call the shots.
