Fameye may be open to helping Showboy with a verse, but it appears the Ghanaian singer wants to check the escape routes before stepping into the studio.
Speaking in an interview on 4Syte TV, Fameye addressed Showboy’s request for him to write a verse, and his response came with the kind of warning label only a friendship with Showboy could require.
Fameye first made it clear that he has genuine love and appreciation for Showboy, especially for the support he has shown his music over the years.
According to the singer, Showboy played a significant role in promoting his hit song Addiction, which featured Medikal. Fameye also recalled maintaining communication with Showboy while he was serving his prison sentence.
So, when it comes to returning the favour with a verse, you would think Fameye would simply say yes.
Well, not so fast.
Fameye says he is still thinking about it because there is one tiny problem. He believes Showboy might insult him afterwards.
“As for his request to write a verse for him, I will think about it because he will later insult me,” Fameye said with a laugh.
And honestly, he might have a point.
Showboy has built a reputation for his unfiltered social media commentary, where friendships can sometimes go from brotherhood to battlefield with the speed of a breaking-news notification.
Fameye admitted that he has to be careful about what he says publicly because of Showboy’s unpredictable character.
“I can’t say everything because of his character. Even with this video that you have forced me to speak, he will insult me,” he added.
That statement alone sounds like Fameye is already preparing his defence before the first studio session has even happened.
Interestingly, Fameye does not appear to have any serious bad blood with Showboy. In fact, he revealed that he enjoys watching Showboy’s controversial content and finds his wild antics entertaining.
His only request is that Showboy perhaps reduces the insults a little.
So, the door to a collaboration is not closed. Fameye is simply standing at the entrance with his hand on the doorknob, checking whether Showboy has another social media explosion waiting on the other side.
At this point, the proposed collaboration may need more than a beat, a hook and a studio session. Fameye might also need a signed agreement stating that the verse comes with lifetime protection from future Showboy insults.
Because in Showboy’s world, apparently, even doing someone a musical favour can come with a complimentary social media dragging.
