The P-Square family saga has officially moved from social media timelines to the courtroom, and this chapter comes with royalty figures, financial records and some uncomfortable questions.

Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has revealed that he received more than $800,000 in music royalties from French rights organisation SACEM between 2016 and 2026 during testimony in the ongoing legal case involving his twin brother Paul Okoye and their former manager, Jude Okoye.

Testifying virtually before the Federal High Court, Peter said the royalties were shared strictly between himself and Paul, with Jude receiving nothing from those particular payments.

His explanation was straightforward: “The money was for the artists.”

That statement has now become one of the key talking points in a case that has already dragged the financial affairs of the former music powerhouse into the public spotlight.

Jude Okoye and his company, Northside Music, are facing a seven-count charge brought by Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over allegations involving approximately N1.3 billion and $1 million.

During cross-examination, however, Jude’s legal team turned the spotlight firmly back on Peter, questioning him about the timeline of his accusations and how the duo’s royalties were handled.

Peter was reportedly challenged over his earlier claims that Jude had withheld financial information for several months.

But under questioning, he acknowledged that he did not have written receipts, text messages or emails to support some of those initial allegations.

Then came another interesting moment in court.

Peter rejected the suggestion that Jude was ever a formal member of P-Square, maintaining that the actual music-making duties belonged to him and his twin brother.

According to Peter, while Jude directed some of the group’s music videos and played a managerial role, the songwriting, composition, performances and hit records came from the twin brothers themselves.

In other words, according to Peter’s testimony, Jude may have been behind the camera and involved in the business, but he was not part of the microphone equation.

The ongoing proceedings have offered a rare glimpse into the financial and professional arrangements behind one of Africa’s most successful music acts.

What was once a story of two brothers dominating the charts has now become a courtroom examination of royalties, management, ownership and the business structures behind their success.

The case is expected to continue, with proceedings adjourned until December 2026.

For fans who grew up watching P-Square turn family chemistry into musical gold, this latest chapter is a reminder that behind every hit record is a business structure, and when that structure breaks down, the receipts can become louder than the music.
