If you have ever pulled all-nighters at university or spent grueling years learning a trade only to end up broke, Ghanaian rapper Kojo Cue feels your pain. The outspoken hip-hop artist recently took to social media to call out decision-makers who tell struggling citizens to simply live within their means instead of fixing a broken system.
Taking to X to vent his frustration, Kojo Cue dismantled the tone-deaf advice often dished out to ambitious young adults. He pointed out the absurdity of sacrificing years of one’s life to acquire higher education or technical skills, only to be told that surviving on survival rations in a cramped room should be considered sufficient.
“Person go struggle go school or learn job… Do everything in their power to excel for a chance at a better life… The system go let them down, then the advice they’ll get is to live within their means,” he wrote.
He went further to question the logic behind sacrificing half a decade for a professional qualification if the end reward is just basic survival.
“If a person wanted to eat gari once a day and share a single room with his whole family, like e go struggle do a 5-7-year course?” he asked, adding that giving such advice to hard-working adults is nothing short of foolishness.
His viral rant captures the mounting frustration among young Ghanaians who follow all the rules, complete their education, and still find themselves crushed by economic hardship. For Kojo Cue, telling people who spent years trying to build a career to settle for the bare minimum is not sound wisdom. It is just lazy leadership!
