Akwaaba UK CEO Rubbishes Claims He Blocked DopeNation from BHIMFest UK

The Ghanaian music industry has one unwritten rule. If there isn’t an actual feud, the internet will happily invent one before lunchtime.

The latest episode in the never-ending drama mill revolves around claims that Akwaaba UK CEO Dennis Tawiah and fellow promoter Alordia deliberately prevented award-winning duo DopeNation from performing at Stonebwoy’s highly anticipated BHIMFest UK.

The theory gained traction after social media commentator Darlington Adams suggested the two promoters had become unlikely gatekeepers, allegedly refusing to book DopeNation for their own events while standing in the way of the twins joining Stonebwoy’s lineup.

It was an entertaining plot. Unfortunately for conspiracy lovers, Dennis Tawiah says it belongs in the fiction section.

Speaking to GhanaWeb, the UK-based promoter dismissed the allegation as nothing more than content designed to chase clicks.

“There is absolutely no truth to this,” Tawiah said. “It’s just content someone was creating. I have a great relationship with DopeNation. In fact, I just got off the phone with Stonebwoy’s team. We are all perfectly fine.”

Not content with simply denying the allegation, Tawiah reached for the receipts.

Responding to claims that he deliberately avoids booking DopeNation, he reminded critics that the duo had already performed at his Party in the Park event. There are videos, photographs, and enough evidence to make that particular accusation struggle for airtime.

He also highlighted a detail that critics conveniently overlooked. DopeNation already has a packed UK schedule, including a performance in Scotland on the very same day as this year’s Party in the Park.

“I don’t have an exclusive contract with them,” he explained. “I can’t tell them where to perform. If I wanted to block them, why would I stop them from performing at an event weeks later instead of one taking place on the exact same day?”

It is the kind of question that tends to make conspiracy theories lose their confidence.

As for DopeNation, the twins have shown little interest in joining the debate. Currently on their European tour, the “Gboza” hitmakers appear content to let social media argue while they focus on performing, travelling, and collecting applause instead of online opinions.

Perhaps that is the real lesson here. Not every missing name on a concert poster signals an elaborate industry plot. Sometimes schedules clash, business decisions are just business decisions, and the loudest drama exists only in the comment section, where every detective has a theory and every theory arrives with a thumbnail designed for maximum clicks.
