In the music industry, taking a short break from the spotlight can sometimes feel like handing critics a pen, paper and a microphone to write your career obituary. But Article Wan is clearly not ready to attend his own musical funeral.
The Ghanaian hitmaker has laughed off claims that his career has lost its spark, insisting that anyone convinced he has fallen off is simply entitled to their opinion.
Speaking on the 3FM Blocparty Show, the “Solo” hitmaker made it clear that he is not losing sleep over whispers suggesting that his best days are behind him.
According to Article Wan, even people close to him have occasionally tried to predict the end of his hit-making run. He recalled an instance where a friend bluntly told him that he would never produce another hit song.
His response? A laugh.
Rather than allowing the comment to get under his skin, Article Wan dismissed the negativity and refused to give the prediction any power over him. For the musician, allowing negative opinions to control your mindset is simply giving other people free rent inside your head.
And when it comes to his music, Article Wan appears to have an even bigger belief system behind his confidence.
Addressing how his sound is sometimes classified as secular or “circular” music, the artiste offered a spiritual explanation for his talent. He suggested that his musical gift is divine and argued that no voodoo or supernatural manipulation could manufacture the kind of natural ability he believes he possesses.
In other words, Article Wan is not accepting the obituary critics have already started drafting.
The “Solo” hitmaker insists he is still working, still creating and still making moves behind the scenes. And for those wondering whether he has disappeared from the music conversation, his message is simple: keep watching.
Article Wan may have stepped out of the spotlight for a moment, but according to the man himself, the show is far from over.
