When social media decides to turn a little beef into a full-blown buffet, somebody eventually has to come carrying the fire extinguisher. This time, that person was Christian Ofori, manager of Ghanaian musician Kwame Yogot.
Following Kwame Yogot’s recent live session, where the musician directed some rather spicy remarks at dancehall heavyweight Shatta Wale, his manager has stepped forward with an official apology in an attempt to cool things down before the situation develops its own soundtrack.
Ofori has expressed his sincere regrets to Shatta Wale, his family, and the entire Shatta Movement fan base, admitting that the comments were inappropriate and crossed the line.
In a heartfelt appeal, the manager took responsibility for the incident and pleaded with Shatta Wale and his supporters to forgive the musician and allow the matter to rest.
But Ofori did not stop at the apology. He also offered some context about what Kwame Yogot has reportedly been going through privately.
According to him, the artiste has been dealing with serious personal challenges in recent months. Ofori claimed that Kwame Yogot has not even stayed in his own home for the past three months, suggesting that the rapper is currently navigating a difficult chapter in his personal life.
While the manager did not present the circumstances as an excuse for the comments, he appealed to fans and the public to show Kwame Yogot some understanding and compassion as he works through his struggles.
The apology now sits firmly in Shatta Wale’s court.
Whether the Dancehall heavyweight accepts the olive branch or decides to keep the social media microphone switched on remains to be seen. But if there is one thing Ghanaian showbiz has taught us, it is that a little peace can save everyone a lot of typing, arguing, screenshots and unnecessary online warfare.
