Award-winning Ghanaian musician Fameye has shared how personal experiences have reshaped his approach to helping others, revealing that he no longer takes on other people’s burdens at the expense of his own well-being.

Speaking in a recent interview about his life, career and personal growth, the “Nothing I Get” hitmaker said his compassionate nature often led him to absorb the financial, emotional and social challenges of relatives, friends and acquaintances.

According to Fameye, he eventually realised that constantly trying to solve other people’s problems was affecting both his mental health and financial stability.

“I used to carry people’s burdens on my shoulders as if they were my own. If someone came to me with a problem, I would stress over it more than the person involved and exhaust my own resources to fix it. But I realised that human beings will drain you if you don’t set boundaries, and at the end of the day, no one carries your burden for you when you’re down,” he said.

The singer explained that establishing boundaries does not mean becoming uncaring or unwilling to help others. Instead, he believes it is an important step toward protecting one’s peace of mind and maintaining a healthy balance in life.

“I still help people when I can, but I’ve stopped making other people’s problems my personal emergency. I had to learn to protect my peace, my family and my energy so I can continue to create music and live a fulfilling life,” he added.

Fameye also encouraged his fans to prioritise self-care and recognise when they are overextending themselves in an effort to support others.

He noted that while generosity remains an important value, maintaining healthy boundaries is essential for preserving one’s emotional well-being, family life and ability to pursue personal goals.
