If you came away from Ghana’s painful 2026 FIFA World Cup exit thinking the pitch was unusually slippery, Criss Waddle has a different theory. According to the rapper, the real problem was Jordan Ayew’s balance.
After the Black Stars suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Colombia in the Round of 32, Waddle took to X, formerly Twitter, with a match analysis that was equal parts criticism and comedy. In his view, Ghana’s captain spent more time reacquainting himself with the grass than troubling Colombia’s defence.
“Jordan alone fall like 50 times in one football match, why wetting we do am? ☹️☹️☹️,” Waddle posted, summing up the frustration of many fans with one brutally honest observation.
It was the kind of comment that immediately sparked laughter and debate. Was Ayew genuinely struggling for footing, or had the football gods decided to turn every sprint into an unplanned slide tackle? Whatever the explanation, Waddle suggested the captain became more memorable for his repeated trips to the turf than for anything he produced in front of goal.
The defeat itself was difficult enough to digest. Colombia’s Jhon Arias ghosted into the back post in the 14th minute and calmly finished, handing his side the only goal they needed to book a place in the next round. Lawrence Ati-Zigi did everything possible to keep Ghana alive with a string of impressive saves, but the Black Stars failed to register a shot on target before halftime, leaving Colombia with little reason to panic.
As the final whistle confirmed Ghana’s exit from the tournament, supporters began searching for explanations and missed opportunities. Criss Waddle, however, appeared convinced he had identified at least one of the problems. His unofficial tactical advice was simple: stay on your feet, keep the attacks flowing, and perhaps have someone inspect Jordan Ayew’s boots before the next big game.
