Before the mansions, flashy cars and superstar lifestyle, even Ghana’s biggest dancehall names needed somewhere to lay their heads.

Former SM Militants member Joint 77 has now offered a different version of his history with Shatta Wale, suggesting that the popular narrative surrounding their fallout may only tell half the story.

Speaking in an interview on Max TV, Joint 77 opened up about his relationship with his former boss and revealed that there was a time when he was the one helping keep things together financially.

According to the musician, he housed Shatta Wale for an entire year without charging him rent. He claimed he also took responsibility for the household bills, including electricity and water, during that period.

From today’s superstar lifestyle, it may sound like an unlikely chapter, but Joint 77 insists that was the reality before the music money started flowing.

He also revisited the infamous Toyota Camry saga, which he says became a major turning point in their relationship.

Joint 77 explained that the vehicle Shatta Wale initially gave him had serious mechanical problems. After taking the car back to the dealer, he allegedly added his own money to secure a different vehicle.

That, however, was reportedly where the relationship took a sharp turn.

According to Joint 77, Shatta Wale eventually involved the police, leading to the car being seized. For him, that incident represented the moment their friendship crossed a line that could no longer be repaired.

But apparently, that is only one chapter of the story.

Joint 77 hinted that there are still plenty of details about their turbulent relationship that the public has never heard, suggesting that his vault of untold showbiz stories is far from empty.

And if there is one thing Ghanaian showbiz has taught us, it is that today’s backstage friendship can become tomorrow’s headline.

For now, Joint 77 has opened the door. The question is whether he plans to reveal what is behind the rest of it.
