Joint 77 Reveals Why Shatta Wale Kept Beyoncé Video Shoot a Secret From the Militants

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Keep your friends close, your enemies closer, and apparently, your Beyoncé video shoot so secret that even your own crew should not know where you are going.

Former SM Militant member Joint 77 has opened up about another curious chapter from his time with Shatta Wale, revealing how the dancehall star allegedly kept his historic collaboration with Beyoncé completely under wraps.

Speaking on Max TV, Joint 77 recalled that he was sitting at the same table with Shatta Wale on the very morning the dancehall star was preparing to travel.

They reportedly shared a meal like it was just another ordinary day. Then, by evening, Shatta Wale had quietly left the country without telling his colleagues where he was headed or why he was travelling.

And according to Joint 77, there was a rather unusual reason for all the secrecy.

He claimed Shatta Wale was genuinely concerned that members of his own crew could be undercover spiritualists who might attempt to sabotage the opportunity by casting a spell on him.

Yes, apparently the Beyoncé mission required more security than simply keeping the passport safe.

Joint 77 said it was only after Shatta Wale encountered some difficulties abroad that he eventually called back home and revealed the real reason for his trip.

But for Joint 77, the secrecy surrounding the Beyoncé opportunity was only one example of a much bigger problem within the SM Militants camp.

He expressed frustration over what he described as a pattern of Shatta Wale travelling alone to perform songs created by the group, despite the Militants playing a significant role in those records.

Songs such as “Taking Over” became major hits, but Joint 77 claims the group members were often left behind while Shatta Wale enjoyed the spotlight on his own.

For him, the situation eventually became difficult to ignore.

Joint 77 suggested that while he and his colleagues remained loyal to Shatta Wale, they were increasingly met with secrecy, exclusion and opportunities that appeared to favour the group’s leader.

Eventually, walking away became less of a dramatic decision and more of an inevitable one.

And judging by the stories Joint 77 continues to tell, the SM Militants chapter may have ended years ago, but the backstage stories are clearly still reporting for duty.
