Ghanaian highlife musician K.K. Fosu has announced his intention to contest the Akuapem North parliamentary seat as an independent candidate in the 2028 general election.
The musician, who suspended his political ambitions ahead of the 2024 elections following a motor accident, says he is now ready to return to the political arena and challenge for the constituency.
Speaking on Asempa Showbiz with Adu Kumi, K.K. Fosu expressed confidence in his chances, stating that he is prepared to face the incumbent Member of Parliament, Sammy Awuku, regardless of the platform on which he contests.
“If Sammy Awuku likes, he should leave the NPP and come and meet me face-to-face. I am going as an independent candidate,” he said.
K.K. Fosu maintained that he is ready to contest the seat whether Sammy Awuku runs on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) or as an independent candidate.
According to the musician, party affiliation alone will not determine the outcome of the election, arguing that voters will ultimately choose the candidate they believe can best represent their interests.
He also expressed confidence in his prospects, claiming that the NPP no longer holds the political strength needed to influence the outcome of the constituency’s parliamentary race.
With his latest declaration, K.K. Fosu appears set to revive his political ambitions as he prepares for what could become one of the closely watched parliamentary contests ahead of Ghana’s 2028 general elections.
