Ghanaian highlife musician Kofi Nti has teamed up with veteran singer KK Fosu and contemporary star King Paluta to revive his beloved classic Rakia with a new remix.

The remix, released on August 11, 2026, comes more than two decades after the original song became a major hit and established itself as one of the memorable highlife records of the 2000s.

Originally released on July 3, 2004, Rakia was produced by renowned Ghanaian sound engineer and hitmaker Appietus and featured highlife icon Ofori Amponsah. The song quickly won widespread acclaim for its infectious melody, relatable lyrics and polished production.

More than 22 years later, Kofi Nti has returned to the record with a new generation of collaborators, bringing together different eras of Ghanaian music.

Veteran highlife singer KK Fosu adds his distinctive vocal style to the remix, while King Paluta introduces his contemporary rap and melodic approach, creating a collaboration that bridges Ghana’s classic highlife era with today’s sound.

The project is also being driven by Kofi Nti and his manager, King Pee, as part of efforts to reintroduce the classic to younger audiences while preserving its original appeal.

The release comes at a time when nostalgia-driven remixes and reinterpretations of classic Ghanaian songs are gaining renewed attention.

With Rakia Remix, Kofi Nti hopes to give longtime fans an opportunity to reconnect with a cherished classic while introducing the song to a new generation of music lovers.
