Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

The stage is set for Ghana’s female musical talents to take the spotlight as the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) opens applications for the second edition of the SheRhythms Festival.

Billed as Ghana’s premier all-female music festival, the 2026 edition is being held under the theme “Amplifying Her Voice, Elevating Her Art.” The festival is scheduled to take over Alliance Française in Accra on December 11 and 12, 2026, with a programme designed to celebrate female creativity while providing practical opportunities for professional growth.

But SheRhythms 2026 is not just about stepping onto the stage and grabbing the microphone.

More Than Music: SheRhythms Adds Industry Masterclasses

Ahead of the main performances, participants will have access to professional masterclasses at the Music Department of the School of Performing Arts, University of Ghana, Legon.

According to MUSIGA’s 2nd Vice President, Abena Ruthy, the sessions are designed to provide women in music with practical knowledge and tools that can help them build sustainable careers in the creative industry.

The programme will cover areas including:

  • Performance Excellence: Developing live performance skills, vocal delivery, stage presence and overall showmanship.
  • Music Business: Understanding royalties, licensing, contracts, negotiations and sustainable income opportunities.
  • Brand Development: Building a strong artistic identity, growing a digital presence and connecting effectively with audiences.

The combination of training and live performance gives the festival a broader focus, moving beyond entertainment to professional development and career growth.

MUSIGA Looks Beyond Ghana

MUSIGA President Bessa Simons has highlighted the festival’s role in creating opportunities for female musicians while connecting emerging talents with important players within the music industry.

The second edition also introduces an international dimension, with female musicians from outside Ghana invited to apply.

The move could create opportunities for cultural exchange, collaborations and professional networking between Ghanaian musicians and their counterparts from other countries.

A Bigger Platform for Female Talent

SheRhythms is being organised under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts and the Creative Arts Agency, in partnership with Alliance Française Accra and powered by Benayacom.

With its combination of performances, professional training and networking opportunities, the festival is positioned as a platform for female artists to not only showcase their talent but also gain knowledge that can support the next stage of their careers.
