Robert Owusu, the father of Ghanaian Afrobeats sensation Lasmid, has opened up about his son’s unexpected rise to fame, admitting that he never imagined the quiet family story would eventually have Lasmid written all over it.

In a viral interview, the proud father revealed that, growing up, the family had every reason to believe Lasmid’s older brother would be the one to pursue a career in music.

According to Mr. Owusu, Lasmid’s elder brother was the household vocalist. He was constantly singing and regularly showing off a voice that could easily convince anyone that a music career was waiting for him.

Naturally, the family made their prediction.

But Lasmid had other plans.

The fourth child, born Nathaniel Owusu, quietly developed his own musical identity before eventually stepping into the spotlight and taking Ghana’s music scene by storm.

Looking back, Mr. Owusu admitted that his son’s success came as a pleasant surprise. The child nobody had initially placed at the front of the family’s musical queue ended up becoming the one with the biggest name.

Life, as it turns out, had written a completely different playlist for the Owusu family.

Today, Lasmid has carved out his own space in Ghana’s music industry, turning what may have once seemed like an unlikely career path into a remarkable success story.

For his father, the biggest lesson may simply be that talent does not always announce itself early. Sometimes, the person quietly watching from the corner is the one who eventually grabs the microphone and steals the entire show.
