British singer Lauren Bennett, best known for her featured vocals on LMFAO’s global hit Party Rock Anthem, has died at the age of 36.
The news was announced on Monday by her former pop group, G.R.L., in an emotional statement shared on Instagram.
“It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Lauren,” the group wrote. “Our hearts are broken, and we cannot begin to express how much she meant to us.”
No cause of death was disclosed. According to coroner records, Bennett died on 29 May in Meopham, Kent. An inquest into her death is scheduled for October.
Bennett rose to international fame in 2011 after lending her vocals to LMFAO’s chart-topping anthem Party Rock Anthem. The song became a worldwide phenomenon, spending six weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and later earning recognition as one of the most successful songs in Billboard history.
She also appeared alongside LMFAO members in the song’s iconic music video, which has amassed more than 2.5 billion views on YouTube.
In 2014, Bennett joined G.R.L., a girl group created as a revival of the successful Pussycat Dolls franchise. The group featured Paula Van Oppen, Natasha Slayton, Simone Battle, and Emmalyn Estrada, and gained popularity with singles such as Ugly Heart and their collaboration with Pitbull, Wild Wild Love.
The group disbanded in 2015 following the tragic death of member Simone Battle.
Beyond her work with G.R.L., Bennett contributed vocals to film soundtracks, including Date Night and 21 Jump Street. She was also a member of the Paradiso Girls, a European spin-off of the Pussycat Dolls created by choreographer Robin Antin.
Paying tribute to Bennett, G.R.L. described her as a cherished friend whose impact extended far beyond music.
“We will forever cherish the love, laughter, and countless memories she gave us,” the group said. “Her beautiful spirit touched so many lives, and she will be deeply missed and forever loved.”
Tributes have continued to pour in from friends and former colleagues. Former Paradiso Girls bandmate Aria Crescendo shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, writing:
“RIP Lauren, my sister, my best friend. I can’t believe you left us. We spoke a week before it all happened, and I could not imagine that would be the last time I would be able to talk to you. Love you and miss you forever.”
Lauren Bennett leaves behind a musical legacy that helped define an era of pop music and touched millions of fans around the world.
