Gospel musician Celestine Donkor has urged married men to understand that marriage requires emotional connection, love and mutual respect, stressing that being married does not give a husband unrestricted access to sex whenever he desires.
In a video shared on her Instagram page, the gospel artiste explained that many women need affection, care and attention from their partners before they feel emotionally and physically connected.
According to her, husbands should not assume that the marriage commitment alone guarantees intimacy, but must continue to nurture the relationship through kindness and communication.
“Dear husband, the fact that you’ve married a woman into your matrimonial home doesn’t mean that whenever you want sex anyhow, anytime, you will automatically get it regardless of how you treat the woman. A woman needs a lot of love, care, and attention,” she said.
Celestine Donkor encouraged husbands to make deliberate efforts to express love through simple actions such as checking on their wives during the day, sending affectionate messages and creating emotional closeness.
She explained that attention does not mean husbands should abandon their responsibilities, but rather ensure that their spouses continue to feel valued and appreciated even when they are away from home.
“When we say attention, we are not saying you should stay home and not work. We are saying that even when you are away from home, let your presence be felt by your wife,” she noted.
The singer compared marriage to caring for a delicate flower, saying wives require patience, love and consistent support to thrive in the relationship.
She further cautioned husbands against becoming complacent because they believe their wives’ religious commitment or loyalty will automatically protect the marriage from challenges.
According to her, emotional neglect can affect relationships, and couples must continuously work on communication, affection and understanding.
Celestine Donkor’s comments have sparked conversations online about intimacy, emotional responsibility and the importance of mutual respect between husbands and wives.
