Odumodublvck may have built his reputation on hard-hitting bars and an unapologetically rugged image, but the Nigerian rapper has revealed that beneath the tough exterior lies a man with some seriously dramatic ideas about love.
Appearing on the In Motion Podcast, the “Picanto” hitmaker sparked conversation after declaring that any man who is unwilling to make the ultimate sacrifice for his partner is, in his words, “a fool.”
The rapper explained that his view of love is heavily influenced by his Christian faith and his interpretation of biblical teachings on marriage.
Referencing the biblical instruction for husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the Church, Odumodublvck pointed to Christ’s sacrifice as the ultimate example of what complete commitment means.
And apparently, he is not interested in stopping at inspirational quotes.
The rapper went on to outline what sounds like a carefully planned posthumous family arrangement. He said he expects to die before his younger partner and wants her to take responsibility for his estate, including managing his wealth and distributing it among their children to maintain peace within the family.
That is certainly one way to approach relationship planning. Some couples discuss holiday destinations and baby names. Odumodublvck is apparently thinking about estate management.
The rapper also addressed accusations that he is a misogynist, expressing frustration with critics who attach the label to him.
According to Odumodublvck, the accusation does not make sense when he openly expresses a willingness to sacrifice his life for the woman he loves.
Whether listeners agree with his interpretation of love, one thing is clear: Odumodublvck has managed to turn relationship advice into a conversation about faith, sacrifice, marriage and inheritance all in one sitting.
For a rapper known for bringing the heat, this time he brought something else to the table: love, but with a death-and-estate-planning
