Rick Ross is facing a serious legal storm after surrendering to authorities in Miami-Dade County following allegations of physical abuse made by a former girlfriend.
The case reportedly stems from an alleged altercation at the pair’s shared residence in late August. According to the accuser’s account to police, an argument erupted after Ross allegedly became upset over a social media tag.
The report contains claims that the rapper slapped and struck her, pulled her hair and allegedly choked her during the confrontation. The accuser also reportedly provided photographs of injuries to investigators as part of the complaint.
Ross later voluntarily turned himself in to authorities and reportedly declined to answer questions during the police process.
His legal team, however, has strongly pushed back against the allegations and questioned the circumstances surrounding the complaint. His attorneys have reportedly pointed to the time between the alleged incident and the filing of the police report as part of their concerns, while urging the public not to rush to conclusions before the case is heard in court.
The Maybach Music Group founder has pleaded not guilty to two battery-related charges, including an allegation involving battery by strangulation.
Following his surrender, Ross was taken into custody with his bond reportedly set at a combined $6,000.
For now, the case moves into the legal system, where the allegations, evidence and competing accounts will face judicial scrutiny.
With a court appearance scheduled later this month, the hip-hop heavyweight now has a very different kind of appointment on his calendar.
