Award-winning Ghanaian Afro-dancehall star Stonebwoy has paid glowing tribute to his mentor and godfather, Samini, declaring that nothing could ever make him harbor hatred toward the veteran musician.
Speaking during a live TikTok session, the BHIM Nation President reflected on the pivotal role Samini played in his rise to stardom, revealing how the celebrated dancehall icon took him under his wing during the formative years of his music career.
According to Stonebwoy, his connection with Samini dates back to his senior high school days. He recalled being informed that upon completing his education, he would have the opportunity to work with Samini’s team and pursue his passion for music professionally.
After graduating from senior high school, Stonebwoy said Samini welcomed him into his circle and treated him like a younger brother, a gesture that forged a lifelong bond between them.
“I was in SHS 2 or 3 when they made me understand that after I completed school, I would work with them. That was how, after I finished SHS, Samini took me in as his younger brother. That is why I call him my big brother,” Stonebwoy recounted.
The award-winning musician emphasized that his admiration and respect for Samini remain unwavering, regardless of any challenges or disagreements that may arise.
“He is someone in my life; he cannot do anything for me to hate him. I see him as my big brother, and there is nothing that could ever make me hate him, whether it is good or bad,” he stated.
Stonebwoy’s journey with Samini began in the mid-2000s when he was an aspiring artiste striving to make a name for himself in Ghana’s competitive music industry. At the time, Samini was already one of the country’s most influential reggae and dancehall acts.
Under Samini’s mentorship, Stonebwoy gained invaluable exposure to the music business and honed his craft. He became a member of Samini Music and reportedly lived with Samini’s family for a period, an experience that helped shape both his career and personal development.
Over the years, Stonebwoy established himself as one of Ghana’s leading musical exports, eventually launching his own record label, Bhim Nation, and earning international recognition for his work.
While their relationship experienced periods of public tension, both artistes have consistently acknowledged each other’s influence and contributions to Ghana’s music industry. By late 2024 and early 2025, the pair had publicly reconciled and shared the stage on several occasions, reaffirming the strong bond that has connected them throughout their careers.
Today, Stonebwoy continues to credit Samini as a key figure in his success story, describing him not only as a mentor but also as a brother whose impact on his life and career remains immeasurable.
