Ghanaian dancehall star Stonebwoy has opened up about a deeply traumatic moment in his career, revealing that his wife, Dr Louisa Ansong, was stabbed during his 2017 Ashaiman to the World concert while she was pregnant with their daughter.

The award-winning musician shared the experience while discussing the risks and challenges artistes face during live performances, noting that entertainers often deal with unexpected situations while trying to meet the expectations of their audiences.

According to Stonebwoy, the incident occurred during the concert, forcing his wife to be rushed to the hospital for medical attention. Despite the distressing situation, he remained on stage and completed the performance before joining her.

“They cut my wife with a knife. Till today, I’ve been talking about the hazards on the job. The fans were there… what could I do? They carried her to the hospital, and I stayed there and performed the whole show before I went to see her,” he recounted.

Stonebwoy revealed that the incident was particularly painful because his wife was pregnant with their daughter at the time, adding that the experience highlighted the personal sacrifices entertainers sometimes make in the course of their careers.

“At that time, she was pregnant with my daughter, you understand? And that is just an example of the things we go through as people who dedicate ourselves to serving others,” he said.

His revelation has renewed discussions about safety concerns at concerts and the challenges performers face while entertaining large crowds. Many have since highlighted the importance of stronger security measures at public events to protect artistes, fans, and their families.

Stonebwoy has over the years used his platform to advocate for improved conditions within Ghana’s entertainment industry, including better organisation and safety standards for live performances.
