Social media personality Scanty has paid tribute to veteran Ghanaian gospel musicians, describing them as the voices that shaped a generation through their faith-filled music and commitment to spreading messages of worship and holiness.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Scanty praised gospel icons including Esther Smith, Mama Esther, Hannah Marfo, and Obaapa Christy, highlighting their influence on Ghana’s gospel music landscape.
According to him, the artistes represented an era where gospel music was deeply rooted in worship, powerful storytelling, and messages that encouraged listeners to live according to Christian values.
“I really want to attend a concert with all old Ghanaian gospel greats on one stage. Esther Smith, and Hannah Marfo to Obaapa Christy… the voices that raised a generation. I just want to worship, cry, and leave with a full heart,” he wrote.
Scanty’s comments have generated discussions online, with many Ghanaians agreeing that the veteran gospel era was characterised by meaningful lyrics, spiritual depth, and songs that left a lasting impact on communities.

Following the tribute, several fans have called on event organisers to consider bringing the gospel legends together for a reunion concert, arguing that such an event would celebrate Ghana’s rich gospel heritage and give audiences an opportunity to experience the voices that inspired generations.
