Ghanaian content creator Kobby Kyei has opened up about a generous gesture from dancehall star Stonebwoy that he says played a major role in helping him acquire his first car.
According to Kobby Kyei, the unexpected support came at a time when he was working to expand his community-focused content and needed a reliable vehicle to reach people in underserved communities.
An Unexpected Connection
Kobby Kyei recalled meeting Stonebwoy while covering behind-the-scenes activities during one of the musician’s music video shoots.
The encounter reportedly left a strong impression on Stonebwoy, who complimented Kobby’s work and encouraged him to remain committed to his craft. The two exchanged contacts, eventually developing a relationship beyond that initial meeting.
Kobby Kyei said he later shared his plans to travel to villages and support people in deprived communities. There was, however, one major obstacle standing in his way: he did not have a car.
That was when Stonebwoy stepped in.
A Call That Came With a Surprise
Kobby Kyei revealed that during a phone conversation with Stonebwoy, the musician asked for his mobile money number.
What happened next reportedly caught him completely off guard.
According to the content creator, Stonebwoy sent him money towards the purchase of his first vehicle, describing the contribution as his way of supporting Kobby’s mission. (Oyerepa)
